The only positive for the women’s soccer team Saturday against the Bethany Swedes is that they broke a three-game skid in which they did not score a goal. The Builders were unable to pull out a victory in Lindsborg and lost their third straight Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference game 5-1.
The Builders kept the game close in the first half, going into the locker rooms at halftime down just 2-1. Nicole Struxness, sophomore midfielder, scored the lone goal for Southwestern. Three unanswered second-half goals by the Swedes ended any chances of the Builders breaking their ten-game losing streak or getting their first conference win.
Bethany got off 16 shots and 10 shots on goal against the Builder defense. Megan Xavier, junior midfielder, led the Swedes with two goals scored.
The Builders begin a stretch of four straight home games Oct. 13 against the 1-9-2 Tabor Bluejays. The game starts at 5 p.m.
