This past Friday and Saturday took Southwestern’s women’s basketball team to Maryville, Mo. for the Northwest Missouri State Classic. Friday the team took on Northwest Missouri State and lost 64-102. This game did not affect the team’s overall record.

However, Saturday’s game against Briar Cliff brought the women’s record to 4-2. The team lost 68-85, unable to defend against Briar Cliff’s Christa Stewart, Kristen Twait, and Kelsey Evans. Stewart, junior center, scored 15 points, Twait, junior center, followed with 14, and Evans, sophomore guard, put up 12 points.

Southwestern put up a good fight, though. Jasmine Manuel, senior guard, scored 26 points during the game and Brett Bates, junior guard, scored 17.

The women’s next game will be at home on Monday. It starts at 8 p.m. in Stewart Field House.
