The women’s basketball team used a deciding first half to combat a slower second half and put away the Friends Falcons 59-51 last night.
Though they stayed on top the entire game, the women were outscored 30-26 by Friends in the second half after winning the first 33-21.
SC was outrebounded 60-50, gave up 22 offensive rebounds and shot only 50 percent from the free throw line, but their 32.9 percent shooting compared to 25 percent by Friends but them on top.
Brett Bates, junior guard, led the women with 14 points, six rebounds, two steals and two assists. Freshman forward Zefiryn Bryan had 12 points and nine rebounds, and Jasmine Manuel, senior guard, had eight points, two blocks, three steals and three rebounds.
The women are in action tomorrow evening when they travel to Tabor College. Tipoff is at 5 p.m.
