The women’s basketball team wasn’t about to let sixth-place Bethany College come up with an upset Thursday evening on Senior Night. The Lady Builders used an 8-0 run late in the second half to shut down the Swedes 62-50.

The women went into the locker room at halftime up 26-22 and were only up by as little as two points in times during the second half, but managed to pull through when it counted.

A hard foul by Jordyn Cossman, sophomore guard, on Rhys Pihl, Bethany sophomore guard, with just under four minutes left sparked the offensive drive for the women. The Lady Builders went on an 8-0 run to seal the Swedes’ fate.

The win was the end of the last home game for seniors Jordan Jarnagin, guard, Amy Laible, forward, Whitney Ward, forward, and Melissa Borthwick, forward. The four were able to share time on the floor in the last minute for a sweet ending to their final season.

The women were led by Jasmine Manuel, junior guard, who had 22 points—twice as many as anyone else on the court. Cossman finished with nine. Jasmine Jackson, sophomore forward, grabbed nine rebounds for the Builders.

The women play their final game Saturday against second-place Kansas Wesleyan University.
