The Lady Builder volleyball team fell to a quick loss Monday night at home. Southwestern hosted the Eagles of Oklahoma Wesleyan and were defeated in three sets.
The Builders dropped the first game 25-14. The second was closer being defeated, 25-22 and the last 25-21.
Sarah Loesing, senior outside, and Chasity Clark, senior right side, led the team in kills earning six each. Rachel Harper, senior setter, served nine aces and had 10 digs. Loesing followed close behind in the digs category with eight, while Carly Matthews, sophomore defensive specialist, added seven.
Oklahoma Wesleyan led in total kills as a team 46-27. OKWU also lead total attacks by seven, earning 122 to Southwestern’s 115. The Builders hitting percentage for the evening 11.3% while the Eagles more than doubled that with 24.6%. Southwestern committed 14 errors, two less than Oklahoma Wesleyan.
This loss brings Southwestern to an overall record of 5-11 and 1-3 in KCAC play. Next up on the Lady Builder schedule is September 23 at 7 p.m. Southwestern takes on the Threshers of Bethel College in North Newton, Kan.
