The track team took on some bigger competition this week at Emporia State University. Most of the teams at the meet were Division 1, Division 2 or Division 3 level.

“I think it’s better to compete with bigger and better schools so we work harder. They push us,” said Morgan Workman, mathematics education sophomore.

This meet wasn’t for points so placing wasn’t a possibility. The men and women both seemed pleased with their performances.

Christine Sheppard, physical performance and sports studies junior, said “For the competition that was there I thought we held our ground well.”

On the men’s side Colton McNinch, biochemistry junior, said “I thought we had some good performances, and there’s still a good chance for us to improve the rest of the year.”

The next meet on the schedule is Saturday at Pitt State.

David Leonard, business administration sophomore, is looking forward to the rest of the season. “The team is looking strong. Once conference comes we will be ready,” said Leonard.
