The women’s soccer team traveled to Lindsborg and faced Bethany College only to break their four win record. Bethany College defeated Southwestern, 3-2.

Seven minutes into the game, Alyson Sparkman, senior forward, opened the score for the Lady Builders. The Swedes answered six minutes later with a goal. The first half ended 1-1.

Second half started with the Lady Builders pushing hard and in the 53rd minute, Maddie Chapin, junior center-back, scored the second goal for the Lady Builders.

Bethany then came back to tie the game 13 minutes later.

It wasn’t until the 83rd minute when the Lady Swedes finally snatched the lead from the Builders. Tessa Kuhlengel, junior midfielder, scored two goals for the Swedes.

The Lady Builders finished the game with 11 shots with only 6 on goal. Bethany ended with 17 overall with 10 on target.

The Lady Builders now stand 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The next game for the women’s soccer team will be on Oct. 12 when they hit the road and face Bethel Lady Threshers.
