For the second time in three games, the men’s soccer team shut out their opponent. The Builders doused Hillsdale Freewill Baptist Thursday evening in Richard L. Jantz Stadium, improving their season record to 2-1.

From the opening kick, the Builders took control and got their first shot off less than five minutes into the game.

The team opened up the scoring for the game with a goal by Jordan Garcia, freshman midfielder, to go up 1-0 with 24:42 left in the half.

The goal was followed up with two back-to-back scores, one at the 6:50 mark and one with 4:01 remaining, giving the Builders a 3-0 lead at halftime.

The scoring didn’t end there. Southwestern came out with the same intensity in the second half and scored two more goals. They went up 4-0 with 21:45 remaining in the game and scored the final goal at the 14:00 mark.

The team’s next game will take place at 3 p.m. Sept. 10 at Bacone College.
