The men’s soccer team finished their season falling to the University of St. Mary, 5-0, Saturday. This concluded the season putting the Moundbuilders 5-12-1 overall and 1-7-1 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
“I thought this was an intense game,” said Cesar Merlos, freshman defender. “We came out kind of slow, but we did stay with them for awhile. It just wasn’t the result we were looking for.”
Merlos said he was disappointed in the overall result of the game.
“I wish it would have gone differently, but it happens,” he said.
For George McNitt, senior midfielder, there’s no where else to go from here.
“It’s frustrating because this is my last game and we lost 5-to nothing, but there’s nothing I can do, but move forward,” said McNitt.
Julio Calderon, freshman midfielder said he also felt disappointed in the outcome of the game.
“I think we could have done a lot better if we would have finished our opportunities and I feel bad that this was the senior’s last game and we lost,” said Calderon.
Calderon said he felt if the team would have came out harder from the beginning the result would have been more favorable.
“Our effort wasn’t so good in the first half and that’s where they scored all of their goals,” said Calderon.
