The Lady Builders won the KCAC championship Monday at Buffalo Dunes in Garden City, Kansas. Competing at the tournament were five schools: Southwestern College, Ottawa University, Kansas Wesleyan, Bethany College, and Sterling College.

Of those schools only Bethany and Ottawa had the proper 5 players. Still with a total score of 373 the Builders had a lower composite score, which in golf is good,  then every school except Kansas Wesleyan with 341 and who only had 4 golfers. The closest school in the running with 5 players was Ottawa University with a score of 385.

For the Builders,  Hannah Mason, biology senior, Alyssa Richardson, com munications junior, Jayln McCauley, accounting junior, Jacquelyn McCauley, business administration sophomore, and Danae Decker, undeclared freshmen, competed and scored at the championship.  The scores were as follows: Mason with 88 strokes, 99 strokes for Richardson, Jalyn McCauley managed 96 strokes, Jackie McCauley only one stroke behind with 97 strokes, and Danae Decker had a stroke count of 103. The par for the course was 72 or 4 strokes each for 18 holes. All competitors were over par.

The closest and therefore best performance on the course belonged to Kamie Rash of Kansas Wesleyan who was 13 over par.  Mason who was second overall individually was only three strokes behind being 16 over par. Mason is currently KCAC Women’s golfer of the week for her performance at South Central Kansas Spring Invitational.
