After a tough season thus far, Carolina Garbato, head volleyball coach, was finally able to earn her first conference win with Southwestern volleyball.

The Lady Builders, now 1-5 in conference play, beat the Swedes of Bethany in 5 matches Wednesday night.

Southwestern claimed the second, third and fifth matches of the series. With the teams battling back and forth for the win in the first four matches, the fifth fell nothing short of expectations.

Jumping out with a 13-8 lead in a match that only goes to 15 points victory looked promising to the Swedes.

The Builders weren’t done fighting yet and rallied to tie it at 15. Southwestern won after multiple lead exchanges, 24-22.

Brittaney Craddock, junior outside, led the team in kills with 17. Hanna House, sophomore middle, made her presence felt at the net leading the team with 3 blocks and Jacqueline Erlanson, junior setter, had the most aces on the team with 5.

Southwestern is now 4-9 on the season and 1-5 in KCAC. They’re next game is at home against Oklahoma Wesleyan at 2 PM this Saturday.
