The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Wednesday the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship qualifiers and the Southwestern College Lady Builders punched their ticket by earning the No. 7 at-large bid out of 11 at-large bids awarded. In the 32-team bracket, Southwesetern is a No. 6 seed playing No. 3 seeded Mount Mercy of Iowa. The game tips off at 9:15 p.m. March 7. The tournament runs March 7-13 at the Tyson Events Center in Soux City, Iowa. For a complete bracket, visit the official NAIA website at naia.org.
The Lady Builders are the third team from the Kansas Collegiath Athletic Conference to earn a bid to the national tournament. Friends University was the regular season KCAC champion and Sterling College won the KCAC tournament.
This is Southwestern’s second consecutive national tournament bid and their fourth in history. They have a 1-3 all-time record in the tournament. The Lady Builders finished the season with a 23-8 record.
