The second track meet of the indoor season, the Graduate Classic, was on Friday Jan. 17 and Saturday Jan. 18, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Eddie Ortiz Jr, head track coach, said, “They stepped up to the competition and it opened their eyes because it’s only a month till conference”

Daegiona Wilson, communication freshman, placed 8th in the 800 meters.

“Daegiona is a freshman so she’s never ran indoor, plus, she ran much better than she thought she would,” said Ortiz.

Adrien Jones, accounting junior, took home a personal record in the 60-meter dash.

The competition was very high as the meet hosted multiple teams with all Americans and national champions as well as The University of Nebraska, a top division one school.

“We practice smart and hard,” said Tumiso Tidimane, accounting senior. “We are right where we need to be to start the season, but not where we need to be shape wise.”

The next indoor meet will be Jan. 24, at Northwestern Missouri State and Wichita State.
