Courtney Huppert, business administration sophomore, led by two strokes after the first round of the golf tournament at Park University and never looked back.

Huppert used her first round to shoot a 78/80 and win her first collegiate golf tournament by four strokes in the 65-competitor field at the Park University Spring Invitational April 12 and 13.

Teammate Kaydee Johnson, business administration junior, placed 31st, coming back from a 99 first round to shoot an 87 second round.

“Kaydee shot one of her best rounds of the year,” Brad Sexson, head golf coach, said.

Laken Campbell, athletic training freshman, shot a 105/113 for 55th place.

The women don’t have enough players to field the required five-person team, but Sexson said he’s brought in five women for next year, meaning they would be able to compete as a whole once again.

They compete next April 21 and 22 at the Baker University Spring Tournament in Lawrence.
