Both golf teams came home with second place finishes at the Ottawa University Invitational Monday and Tuesday. The tournament took place at Eagle Bend Golf Course in Lawrence.

The men’s golfers, as a team, finished only eight strokes behind winning team, Bethany College. Tim Jasper, business marketing junior, finished fourth overall in the tournament after going one under par for the second round of play. Raleigh Hughes, business marketing junior, played well again coming home with an eighth place finish.

The women also came home with a second place finish, supported by a fourth place finish from Courtney Huppert, business junior, and a seventh place finish by Kaydee Johnson, business administration senior. The only team the women lost to was a Division II team. The Builders are still undefeated against NAIA teams this season. Huppert was only six strokes off of the leader shooting a 160 for the two days. Johnson improved by five strokes to clinch seventh place with a 167.

“I shot an 81, so that’s pretty good for me, I’ll take it.” said Johnson.

Both teams will play in the Chick-Fil-A Collegiate Invitational next week in Rome, Georgia. The men will be playing at Coosa Country Club, and the women will be playing at Stonebridge Golf Club on Oct. 4 and 5.
