A second place finish (878) for men’s golf was led by Seth Bryan, business management junior, as he tied for third individually carding a 216 on Rolling Meadows golf course in Junction City.
The Builders held a first place five shot lead going into the final round of the tournament.
Brad Sexson, head coach, said, “Bethany came out and played amazing during the third round. We did everything we could but they had an outstanding round.”
Bethany College was able to shoot a tournament low 282 during the third round that pushed them passed the Builders and into first place. The Builders finished just eight shots shy of a first place finish.
Justin Churchill, business junior, shot a personal career tournament low score carding a 69 during the second round.
“Knowing that it was a conference tournament,” said Churchill, “I knew our team needed a good score. I’m glad that I was able to step up and perform.”
The Lady Builders placed fourth out of five teams at the KCAC opener. Just playing two rounds, the ladies carded a team score of 721. They trailed Kansas Wesleyan, who placed first (686), by 35 strokes.
Hannah Mason, biology senior, led the team as she placed fourth individually. She was just two shots out of third place and 12 shots out of first.
Mason said, “As a senior I know I need to be a role model for the underclassman. I always try to clear my mind and stay focused in order to score well for my team.”
Mason carded a second round score of 76 that was the low for the ladies. Alyssa Richardson, professional communication senior, followed closely behind Mason as she finished sixth with a score of 175.
