The Lady Threshers and Builders played neck and neck the first half ending in a tie score of 19-19. The tough, hard-fought first half was put together by Lady Builders’ Jazmyne Laskey, senior guard, scoring six points and fellow Marissa Evans, senior guard, scoring four points. The contributions from Evans and Laskey were not the only ones as Ashley Carrillo, junior center, scored four along with new faces, Sarah Alsabbaheen, sophomore guard, with two and Destiny Steward, sophomore guard, for eight. The Lady Builders also won the turnover battle by a margin of six for the half against Bethel. On the other hand, Bethel went to the drawing board and made changes coming out from the second quarter.

Bethel controlled the rebounding game yet again in the second quarter ending the half doubling Southwesterns board by totals of 24 and 12. The deficit played a crucial role in second chance opportunities for both teams as the quarter ended with Bethel leading by a score of 39-34 to end the half.

The third quarter opened up with a hot start by Bethel with Brielle Hampton, freshman guard, and Kendall Michalski, sophomore guard, scoring the first five points for the Threshers to get out to a 12-point lead.

“We knew going into the fourth quarter we had a chance to do something great”, said Evans post-game.

In the final quarter the Builders picked up immensely on their rebounding winning the rebounding column for the first quarter all night.’
