On Wednesday, the all saint’s chapel was held inside the Richardson Performing Arts Center in Christy Hall.
However, this service was different from what chapel regularly is. It brought attention to individuals at Southwestern, who have recently had loved ones pass away.
The service opened with two keynotes followed by a day of the dead tribute from Maria Rios Jean, assistant women’s soccer coach. Jean introduced the concept and importance behind the ancient Hispanic tradition.
The scripture coming from Matthew 5:3-14 was presented to the congregation by professor Cheryl Rude, professor of leadership studies, and Molly Just, campus minister.
This was followed by a candle lighting and name reading by Nick and Rebeca Detter.
The service then ended with a benediction, which was given by Just.
