Friday afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m. Warren Avenue got a little more action than usual.
Firefighters were called in for a car fire.
Andrew Krause, football coach, was the owner of the white Monte Carlo.
Audrey Vorderlandwehr, biology sophomore, was a witness of the whole event.
“I heard sirens and my first reaction was to run out there and check it out. When I got there I saw flames and smoke billowing out from under the hood.”
Matt Webb, Winfield firefighter paramedic said “We were called for a car fire and there was heavy smoke showing when we arrived. There is minor smoke damage to the passenger compartment and the engine compartment has heavy fire damage.”
The firefighter used a 1 ¾ attack line to put it out.
Students were notified via email of the fire and that Warren Street has been temporarily blocked off and to drive with caution in the area.
