Southwestern prides itself on the family-feel it projects to its community. One of the ways Southwestern achieves this is by holding gatherings for students and faculty to get together and welcome their peers back from breaks. Campus Life hosts many of these gatherings including Wednesday’s hot chocolate bar.

According to Lai-L Clemons, director of Campus Life, this is their second hot chocolate bar and is meant as a welcome back to students returning from Christmas break.

“It was brought up that we maybe should start doing something like a welcome back,” said Clemons.

Southwestern is good about making people feel welcome and giving students a place to go to meet new people.

Ashton Humbelt, music education freshman, described it as a good time to just hang out.

“In the fall semester, we had a back-to-school sundae bar and so this is kind of supposed to be our welcome back hot chocolate bar. We try to do one at the beginning of each semester,” said Hayley Weston, communication junior.

Campus Life is already geared up and ready for semester to get underway.

“There is a ton of stuff coming up this semester so be looking out,” said Clemons.
