With hopes to snap their four-game losing streak, the Men’s basketball team traveled to McPherson to battle the Bulldogs. Despite a strong start to the beginning of the season, the Men’s basketball team has been on the lower end of a balancing act. After losing to McPherson by a margin of 80-64, the Moundbuilders have now lost their fifth straight game.
The Builders opened up the game with a quick lead, but that would be the last time they would be in front of the Bulldogs all evening. After the short boost, the Bulldogs quickly took control with a game-breaking 18-2 scoring run.
Taylor Johnson, freshman guard, led all Southwestern scores with 17 points on the night. Cameron Clark, freshman forward, and Tyler Shirley, also had good contributions to the final count, scoring 13 and 10 points respectively.
The Builders hope to rebound back to the form they had in the beginning of the season by hosting the Bethany Swedes Feb. 2 at Stewart Field House, with tipoff at 7 p.m. This fifth consecutive loss drops the Builders to 14-10 overall and 5-8 in the KCAC.
