The women’s volleyball team faced the Lady Spires in Stewart Field House last night, Sept. 13.

“I felt like I was starting the game off good, I got the momentum flowing”, said Jacqueline Erlanson, freshman setter, after starting the game off by serving 2 aces. The game began full of promise however, the Lady Builder’s failed to keep the momentum going.

Southwestern lost in 5 sets against St. Mary Thursday evening. Switching the wins back and forth, St. Mary won the first, third, and fifth match while Southwestern only snatched the second and fourth.

Coming off the loss from Tuesday, Brittaney Craddock, freshman outside hitter, said “We were told that passing and being able to finish the game needed to improve”.

Erlanson, referring to Thursday night, said “The team played really well, the best we’ve played this year”.  Ashley Schoenhofer, freshman right side hitter, backed this up when she said both defense and offense has improved.

The Lady Builder volleyball team took the positives away from the game overall, even though they didn’t come out on top. Erlanson said “We are really starting to come together and grow as a team”.

The Lady Builder’s next game is this Saturday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. at Newman University. Schoenhofer said, “Serving at critical points must to be improved for the next game”. The Lady Jet’s current record is 2-5 while Southwestern’s is 5-4.
