Despite having a three point lead at halftime, the women’s basketball team couldn’t hang on for the win Tuesday night against Baker University. Baker took down the Builders at home 74-66, knocking Southwestern’s record to 2-4 on the season.

The Lady Builders shot just 34.3 percent from the field compared to Baker’s 45.1 percent. They also struggled from beyond the arch, hitting just six of 21 shots from three-point range.

Trinicia Shaffer, junior guard, hit five of 12 of her shots and led the team with 13 points. She was the only player to score in double digits for the Builders.

Baker turned the ball over 27 times, but the Lady Builders were unable to capitalize. They were outrebounded by Baker 49-32.

Southwestern will play Doane College at 4 p.m. Friday in Stewart Field House. The game is a rematch from the Lady Builder’s opening game of the season. Doane won the first game 65-51 in Nebraska.
